Learn more about Ringworm Treatment (Tinea)
Tinea is a scaly, dry, red patch on the skin which is due to infection with fungi known as dermatophytes. It may develop in areas of perspiration and moisture such as the feet and groin, but can also infect the scalp causing hair loss, and the nails, causing damage to them. Tinea may develop as a result of direct contact with an infected individual, as seen in wrestlers. Tinea is treated with topical or oral antifungal medications.
